Marko Solis is the Director of Engineering at Spartan 5S Solutions, a dynamic consulting firm specializing in lean methodologies. He leverages deep expertise in cross-docking, transportation, logistics, operations, engineering, and production control. He also utilizes a data-driven approach to evaluate supply chains and identify areas for improvement.

Marko joined Spartan in late October of 2021 and has hit the ground running by equipping the Spartan team with new metric capabilities, value-added business acumen, excellent client relationship management skills, international experience, and an overall key strategic approach to the execution of the organization’s vision.

Before joining Spartan, Marko followed a fast track of consistent promotion within the Ryder Systems, Inc. logistics organization for 12 years. In his most recent role as Group Logistics Manager, Marko led a team of 300 drivers, five terminals, and 20 employees. His team managed terminals and accounts in the southeast region of the U.S. and supported all major Toyota NAMCs and Subaru. Marko managed a large international P&L and played the lead role for Toyota’s first Mexico NAMC taking on full international over-the-road (OTR) transportation.

Previously, he served the company as a Senior Logistics Manager. There he spearheaded the launch of Toyotas NAMC, TMMGT, wherefrom start-to-finish of the yearlong ramp up, Marko was the “go-to” for all things related to the international TMMGT operation (a $30M account). His key role was strategically planning the increase of drivers and tractors for the US terminals while working alongside the Ryder cross-border and Mexico operations teams to ensure there were no operational interruptions to the customer’s start-up. Marko reported weekly to senior executives and monthly to Toyota management on the status of the start-up, financial results, and performance-based metrics. He led the team to a successful international transportation launch from his involvement with onsite and cross-border LLP and Operations plant support to customs brokerage and OTR operations. Simultaneously, he launched an international OTR operation for a Tier 1 TMMGT supplier during the ramp-up of the Toyota plant all while ensuring both accounts remained profitable generating over $3.5M in gross revenue.

Before that, Marko was a Senior Logistics Engineer at Ryder, where he served as the lead at Forma Automotive. He led the launch of TMMTXs first women-owned Tier 1 onsite supplier supporting logistics, yard management, production control, parts ordering, inventory management, and Tier 2 supplier management. Marko spearheaded the launch by becoming the SME for Formas ERP system, QAD, as well as creating an ordering system tailored to a broadcast onsite supplier. Due to the success of the start-up, Marko and his team earned Ryder, Forma, and TMMTX recognition for launching an onsite supplier with zero plant interruptions. Marko led the team to over $2M in customer savings and avoidance as well as an overall inventory accuracy of 99.5%. While at Forma, Marko earned a promotion from Logistics Engineer to Senior Logistics Engineer.

Before moving to San Antonio, TX Marko resided in Laredo, TX where he started with Ryder in 2009 supporting a cross-dock network for Lear. In this position, he helped managed the day-to-day 3PL operations for multiple plants in the US, Mexico, and Honduras. While supporting the Lear account Marko started as a Traffic Clerk and earned promotions to Customer Logistics Coordinator and Customer Logistics Manager.

Marko earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Project Management from the University of the Incarnate Word. Outside of work, he loves spending time with his wife, daughter, and two sons and volunteering at his local church. He enjoys mountain biking, and firing up the grill, and will never say no to a delicious breakfast taco.
